A Taste of Irish
Gaelchultúr will be running an event called A Taste of Irish on Saturday, 16 September, in our centre at 11 Clare Street, Dublin 2. Drop into us between 12.00pm and 1.00pm, and we’ll assess your standard of Irish. Once the assessment has been completed, you’ll have an opportunity to attend a 20-minute Irish class, which will give you an idea of the teaching approach we use. You’ll also be able to register for the autumn course, should you wish, but there will be no obligation on you to do so.

Assessment
If you’d like to do an Irish course with Gaelchultúr but aren’t sure what your level of competency in the language is, drop into our centre at 11 Clare Street, Dublin 2, at any time during the periods mentioned below and one of our teachers will assess your proficiency in the language. This assessment is free of charge, it will take approximately 15 minutes, and there’s no need to book in advance.

Culture Night at 11 Clare Street, Dublin 2 - A Taste of Irish with Gaelchultúr
If you’re an adult interested in learning Irish, you can attend a 30-minute Irish class in Gaelchultúr, which will give you an idea of the teaching approach used by the company. There will be live traditional music to round off the event.

Autumn Term of Irish Language Evening Classes
Gaelchultúr offers Irish language classes at up to seven levels, three times a year. Gaelchultúr’s autumn programme of evening classes will begin the week commencing 25 September 2017. Classes will be held in Dublin, in Carlow and in Cork, but if you think there’d be demand for classes in your area, contact us on eolas@gaelchultur.com / (01) 484 5220.

Certificate in Professional Irish - Levels 3, 4, 5 and 6
These accredited courses will give public sector employees an opportunity to learn specialised language relating to their work and gain a recognised qualification in Irish at the same time. Courses will be offered this autumn at level 3 (beginner/elementary), level 4 (lower intermediate), level 5 (upper intermediate) and level 6 (advanced 1) on the National Framework of Qualifications.
As well as classroom-based lessons, participants will have access to a comprehensive online course, Teastas sa Ghaeilge Ghairmiúil (Certificate in Professional Irish). This course material will help them prepare for the classroom sessions and for the final exam.

Option 1: Classes in Gaelchultúr (Dublin city centre) and e-learning (a three-hour class, once a week, for 10 weeks)
Option 2: In-house training in any part of the country and e-learning (a three-hour class, once a week, for 10 weeks)
Option 3: In-house training in any part of the country and e-learning (a one and a half hour class, once a week, for 20 weeks)
Option 4: Live online classes and e-learning (a one and a half hour class, once a week, for 20 weeks)

Intensive Preparatory Course in Written Irish
This part-time course is aimed at those who wish to apply for a postgraduate course in Irish but who feel that they don’t have the required standard in the language. It will also suit those working through the medium of Irish on a daily basis who wish to improve their written skills and grammar. Most of the course will be conducted online but classroom sessions will also be organised. These sessions will be held in Gaelchultúr’s headquarters in Dublin city centre.

One-Day Intensive Preparatory Course - Professional Masters in Education (Primary) Irish Interviews
This course is aimed at those who will be doing the Irish language interview for the Professional Masters in Education (Primary). The course focuses on the main topics of conversation that arise in the interview and participants are given an opportunity to improve their speaking skills and add to their vocabulary. The course is suitable for those who have studied Irish at school, but have had few opportunities to use it in recent years. Participants will also have access to an online course on Gaelchultúr’s e-learning website, ranganna.com, as soon as they register. Click here to try that course for free.

Culture Night
The finest cultural events will be on offer in various venues across Dublin and in many venues around the country on Friday, 22 September, with the celebration of Culture Night 2017. Information on the Irish language events taking is available here.

Oireachtas na Samhna
The main Irish language festival, Oireachtas na Samhna, will be back in Killarney this year, from the 1-5 November. All of the festival’s events will take place between the Gleneagle Hotel and the Brehon Hotel. There will be music, craic, poetry, storytelling, dancing and much more throughout the festival, which is always the highlight of the year for the Irish speaking community.

Pop Up Gaeltacht
The Pop Up Gaeltacht takes place on the last Thursday of every month in various pubs around Dublin. Irish speakers get together for a few drinks and the chat. Keep an eye on Twitter and Facebook for information on the next Pop Up Gaeltacht. More Pop Ups are popping up all the time now around the country and around the world, so it’s worth keeping an eye out on social media for a Pop Up Gaeltacht near you.

San Francisco Bay Area Irish Language Immersion Weekend
The Irish Language Immersion Weekend will take place in the San Francisco Bay Area, from the 22-24 September 2017. As well as Irish language classes at four different levels, there will also be music, poetry and storytelling sessions on during the weekend, and more.
