Bernard Dunne seeks 100,000 supporters for Irish

Former boxing champion Bernard Dunne is aiming to get 100,000 Irish people to commit online to using Irish in their daily lives. This campaign is a core part of the six-part television series Bernard Dunne’s Bród Club, which is being broadcast on RTÉ 1 every Monday at the moment.

Gaelchultúr is making a new “Frása an Lae” (Phrase of the Day) video available online every day of the year, giving those interested in Irish an opportunity to learn lots of useful sentences.

Helping art teachers brush up on their Irish

Students from various parts of Ireland are undertaking a new part-time course, Diploma in Teaching through Irish (Art), which began in January. This course is being run by the National College of Art and Design, in conjunction with Gaelchultúr.

ClubLeabhar.com had a collection of poetry, Filíocht Ghrá na Gaeilge, as book of the month for the first time in February, and ClubLeabhar.com administrator Michelle Ryan recently interviewed the editor of the book, Ciarán Mac Murchaidh. Love is also the theme of March’s book of the month, Filleann Seoirse, the first novel from Éilís Ní Anluain.

Daltaí na Gaeilge, a not for profit corporation based in the United States which promotes and teaches the Irish language, has recently launched an attractive and user-friendly new website.

COGG (An Chomhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta agus Gaelscolaíochta) recently launched a new iTunes U channel which contains a collection of audio and visual material that will be a very useful resource for Irish speakers, and for primary school teachers in particular.
