Last year was another excellent twelve months for the Certificate in Professional Irish, Gaelchultúr’s course for public sector employees interested in improving their spoken Irish skills. The course, which is recognised by QQI, celebrated five years in existence and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD was one of several hundred students to be awarded the certificate during the year.
Nuachtlitir Ghaelchultúir recently spoke to Róisín Ní Bhaoill and Eoghan Mac Gearailt, two former students of the Postgraduate Diploma in Translation, to find out why they undertook the course and how it has benefited them in their working lives.
Because its inaugural summer school last year was such a success, Bord na Gaeilge UCD has decided to run Tionól Gaeilge again this year. This school, which will again be organised by the Bord in conjunction with Gaelchultúr, will take place on the Belfield campus at the beginning of July and it will again feature a mixture of language classes, lectures and social events.
